Vincent Ralph Calcagni

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vincent Ralph Calcagni, known affectionately as "Vince" or "Vinny", who left this world peacefully on July 30, 2026 at his home with his loving wife at his side. Born on March 12, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY, Vince was a vibrant spirit who brightened the lives of everyone he met. He grew up on Long Island and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. In 1975, after his discharge from the Navy, Vince took a bold step into his entrepreneurial journey by moving to Fort Lauderdale, where he opened a sandwich shop that marked the beginning of his longstanding and successful career in the restaurant industry. In 1991, he and his family made their way to the historic city of St. Augustine, where he established Vince's Sports Room and later established Vince's Sandwich Shop and Lunch Express, delighting locals with his exceptional food and warm-hearted service. His career in the industry spanned more than 50 years. Vince's outgoing nature and infectious sense of humor made him not just a beloved proprietor but a cherished friend to many. He poured his heart into his work and was deeply appreciated by customers and colleagues alike. Throughout his life, he was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Doreen, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years. Together, they created a loving home enriched with laughter, joy, and unforgettable memories. Vince was also a proud father to daughter Jessica Hoffman, father in law to Jessica's husband, Jason and a grandfather to grandson Abraham Hoffman. He is also survived by his mother in law, Dorothy Ames. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Annette (DeSantis) Calcagni and his brother Ralph Calcagni. A sports enthusiast at heart, Vince found joy in following various games. He loved sharing adventures with his family, especially trips to Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas where he embraced the vibrant atmosphere and excitement of life. A private celebration of Vince's life will be held at a later date. In the days to come, family and friends are invited to gather, share fond memories, and honor the legacy of a man who brought joy to so many. As we reflect on the life of Vincent Ralph Calcagni, we take comfort in the love he gave and the lives he touched. May his spirit live on in our hearts, reminding us of the laughter, warmth, and kindness he so generously shared.
