Thomas Scott Griffin

Who knows someone better than themselves? Who can state what’s most important to them, better than themselves? Rhetorical, and so here we go.... Thomas S Griffin, Scott to everyone who met him, was born July 27, 1964, in Troy, NY. He passed away on January 10, 2025, after a short illness. His grin remained until the end, always signaling that he knew something you most likely did not. Scott attended St Paul the Apostle school in Troy, followed by Doyle Middle, and Troy High School. He attended Paul Smiths College located, as he put it, in the boonies of northern NY. Scott is survived by his mother Mary "Pat" Griffin (Elkton, FL), and his sister Traci (Jessica) of Troy, NY as well as his Aunts, Uncle, Cousins, and amazing friends. Scott was predeceased by his father Thomas V. Always searching for a passion, he worked in Colonie, before co-owning Bogies night club in Albany. After selling his share, in the early 90s, Scott moved to Central Florida, where he pursued new adventures and experiences with many new friends. Friendships were the most important thing in his life. He met thousands of people, and could count hundreds as “good friends”. He never liked asking others what they did for a living. He said he learned nothing from that question. Instead, he would ask, “What do you like to do?” He moved to one of his favorite places, Pinehurst, NC in 1999, and called it home for nearly twenty years until he discovered his passion for traveling the globe by the seat of his pants. No tickets, no hotel? No problem. Scott visited dozens of countries; never being able to count them without the memories and stories from each, making him forget about the actual number he visited. He was a great storyteller and loved to share as well as listen to a good tale. His sense of humor was wicked, but warm, and stayed with him every day of his life. Scott was grateful to the women who showed him all the love they had, and his greatest regret was his inability to reciprocate that level of love. “Some of us just aren’t wired correctly” he used to say, and he tried to keep his struggles with that as private as possible. He was grateful for his family’s love and endless support, for the love of his friends, and for the opportunities to make so many smile, and so many laugh. He was often told that after meeting him, forgetting him was impossible, and he always grinned, very pleased with that thought. In lieu of flowers, go out with family and/or friends, and share some of your favorite stories. You may even talk about that faraway place you’d like to visit but have been putting it off for so long. Scott would like to ask you to think about it some more, and then just.........GO!! Please, just go.
