Susan Diane Roy October 4, 1948 - October 19, 2016 Susan D. “Susie” Roy, age 68, of St. Augustine, passed away on October 19, 2016 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring with her family by her side. Sue was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on Ocober 4th 1948, a daughter of Mary “Nonnie” and Adelard Baron. Susie grew up in Manchester and later Anaheim, California. After graduating from high school, Susie briefly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. She married Russ Roy in Manchester on May 30, 1970. They raised a family of three children in the Manchester area and moved to St. Augustine in the early 1990’s. Sue was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her favorite pastime was being around family and spending afternoons in “Nonnie’s Kitchen” where she loved to cook and bake for family and friends. Chicken cacciatore, pasta and meatballs, were some of her favorite dishes, along with Nonnie’s soup, apple pie and “Belly Buttons”. Though her family was her first priority, she was also an accomplished entrepreneur involved in many business ventures including real estate, retail and mobile food services. Sue and Russ started “Queen City Canteen” in the 70’s, providing catering and lunch trucks to local construction sites and businesses throughout Manchester. While in St. Augustine she started “Blooming Deals” on King Street where her and her husband ran the consignment based furniture store for many years. Above all, she loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and enjoyed the hot sun, the beach and spending time watching and cheering for her family during sporting events, especially baseball. She attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Russ Roy of St. Augustine; a daughter, Tracy Roy of St. Petersburg, FL.; sons, Tom Roy of St. Augustine, Scott Roy and his wife Dawn of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Lillian Baron of Edgewater, FL.; grandchildren, Jesse, Jamie, Baylee, Tyler & Brady; and one great granddaughter, Stella Rose. Private services will be held. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
