Sophia Joyce Fink

Sophia Joyce Fink, age 15 of Saint Augustine, FL, passed away on January 22, 2026, at her beloved school, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB). She was born on April 5, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to parents Robert Van Fink III & Rachel Martin Fink. She was a freshman at FSDB, where she had been a student since kindergarten. Sophia is preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Robert "Boompa" Fink. Survived by her parents, her older sister Hannah, and her younger siblings Mary, Robert "Ace", Lydia, Martin, and Faith, all of St. Augustine; paternal grandmother, Bridggette Fink; maternal grandparents Bob & Joyce Martin, 14 aunts and uncles, 19 cousins, and innumerable friends. Sophia had a caring heart and loved to help people. She aspired to become a doctor or work in the medical field. She admired first responders and would say a prayer every time she heard an emergency vehicle. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her Red Cross First Aid Certification. Sophia's greatest joy was her time spent at FSDB. She grew up at FSDB and considered it her second home. She loved dearly every classmate, teacher, and staff member. Every time someone had a birthday, she would ask to get them a gift or make them a card. If a classmate was sad, mad, or scared, she would encourage them with a smile, a joke, or a big lift-you-off-the-ground hug. She loved to make people feel better and make them laugh. Sophia's hobbies included jigsaw puzzles (which she put together upside down), large print word searches, crossword puzzles, cryptogram puzzles, researching tornadoes and tornado sirens, UNO, playing games with her siblings, baking with mommy (she liked to add extra special ingredients), and riding roller coasters with daddy. Sophia will be remembered for her loud, exuberant voice, her laughter, and her confidence. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Ruth’s Chapel Turning Point at Calvary Church, 3500 State Road 16 in St. Augustine. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Entombment will take place in the church mausoleum.
