Roger Ricard

Roger Ricard, age 54, entered fully into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Roger, beloved father, husband, and man of God, was born on August 30, 1968, to Robert and Yolanda Ricard, in Miami, FL. He attended Coral Gables Senior High School, where he fostered a love for the game of football. After a car accident ended his career as an athlete, he graduated in 1986 and began pursuing his love of the game as a mentor. In 1995, Roger moved to Bushnell, FL where he found his true passion, as a coach in the athletic department of South Sumter Middle School. He was a mentor to many young men during his tenure and took great joy in sharing the game and the gospel while earning the nickname “Big Daddy” He took great pride in watching “his players” achieve the ultimate heights in their athletic careers in collegiate football, as well as, the NFL. Used to calling the plays, it was an easy transition when the Lord called him to change careers and work for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. It was there that he met the love of his life, Julia Workman. He and Julia were married on December 19, 2007. Roger worked for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office until an injury again forced him into a new career path. In 2014 he moved to St. Augustine, and the following year joined the family at The Ocean Gallery Resort, where Roger loved being the Manager of Community Services. Roger was a Master Mason and PM of Bushnell-Hernando Lodge No. 30. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and gun and survival enthusiast. More than anything, he was a child of God, a loving husband, father, son, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ricard. He is survived by his wife, Julia Ricard of St. Augustine; a son, Robert Ricard of St. Augustine; daughters, Roslyn "Rosie" Ricard of St. Augustine; Rebekka Lynn Ricard of Colorado, and his mother, Yolanda Ricard of St. Augustine; brothers, Robert "Bob" Ricard (Carol) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Rodney Ricard (Kristina) of Alabama; and sister, Alice Tatti. A celebration of Roger's life will be held at Pentecostal Fellowship Center (1065 Kings Estate Rd.) in St. Augustine, on Saturday, January 28th at 11 A.M.
