Natalie Kersey Elliott

Natalie Kersey Elliott February 19, 1931 - November 20, 2017 Natalie Kersey “Nat” Elliott, age 86, passed away at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia. She was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and a longtime resident of Orlando before moving to St. Augustine in 1982. She had been living with her oldest daughter and son-in-law in McDonough, Ga. since 2013. Nat was a devoted wife of 61 years to the late Jack Pernell Elliott who preceded her in death in 2011. She was a loving mother and homemaker and in her 50s went back to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She thrived as a student nurse and became president of her class. In addition to being a wife and mother, she worked in nursing for many years in hospitals and nursing homes in Orlando and physician private practices. Nat was full of life and had many talents and interests. She was an excellent ping-pong player even in her 80s. In her teens and early 20s she worked as a model in Birmingham, Alabama. She loved to dance and often danced the Jitterbug with her husband Jack. For years she enjoyed skiing, scuba diving and fishing. And for much of her life she enjoyed gardening and truly had a "green thumb." She attended Anastasia Baptist Church for many years. Nat was "one of a kind," in the words of her son in law, Earl, “She had a heart as soft as a rose, and a tongue that could kick you like a 12 gauge”. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by daughters, Jackie Lynn Taylor and her husband, Scott, of McDonough, Georgia and Leigh Ward and her husband, Earl, of St. Augustine; grandchildren, Jennifer Clark of McDonough, Christie Thomas Coleman and her husband Kevin of Tallahassee, Steven Taylor and his wife Stephanie of McDonough, Mallory Aussem and her husband Chris of St. Augustine, and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Makenze and Alex Clark of McDonough. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 4, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Dr. Walter West officiating.
