It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Matthew Robey "Matt" Stein, who left this world on April 5, 2026, at the age of 53. Born on July 27, 1972, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Matt was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, known for his keen intelligence, entrepreneurial spirit, and heartfelt dedication to those he loved. Matt spent his formative years in Ansley Park, Atlanta, where he attended Horizons School. His thirst for knowledge was evident as he effortlessly mastered various subjects. Over the years, he built a diverse career, operating a concrete company, constructing homes, and running a car stereo shop. However, it was his passion for auto restoration that truly defined him. A self-taught mechanic, Matt had a remarkable ability to breathe life into old cars, turning them into works of art. In 2006, Matt found his sanctuary in Treasure Beach, St. Augustine, Florida, where he immersed himself in the beauty of coastal life. He will be remembered not only for his skills but also for the profound love he had for his daughter, Valerie. Above all, Matt was a devoted father whose greatest joy and pride was his daughter. She was his heart, his purpose, and the light of his life. Matt was a man of many sayings, often heard reassuring friends and family with phrases like, "Give me a minute," or playfully insisting, "You're doing it wrong." Those close to him will fondly remember his humor and candid nature, often expressed with the phrase, "They're all idiots." He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Valerie Stein. He is survived by his loving daughter Valerie, his devoted father John Stein, and his brothers, David and Peter Stein. He is also survived by many lifelong and loyal friends. A celebration of Matt's life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Fletcher officiating.
