Karin M. Baumgartner

It is with tremendous sadness and heartbreak that we share that our beautiful Mother Karin Baumgartner departed her loving family on August 9, 2022. Karin was born in Germany. Her and her family were WWII survivors and lived in West Dirshau until she met her husband Walter W. Whisner Sr. . They married and came to the U.S. where together they had 2 children Walter W. Whisner Jr. and Heidi V. Melton, who are now both residing in Florida where Karin recently came to live with them. If you were fortunate enough to know Karin, you know she had a spirit that was larger than life. Before coming to the states she was a model in Europe and also received her bachelor's degree in accounting. With great pride, she worked very hard on her own to become a citizen of the U.S. in 1978. Karin then became the Counter Manager of Fragrances in Woodward & Lothrop winning top sales every year and was the shop steward of her Union. Later she became a Representative for Calvin Klein, Cartier and Thierry Mugler fragrances. On her days off you would find her sitting at Cantler’s Riverside Inn elbow deep enjoying her Maryland steamed crabs. Later when she retired she just loved to plant flowers, browse the flea markets or just sit in her yard while she enjoyed a good cappuccino. Karin may have left this world, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever. She definitely had a rare gift of lighting up every room she entered. To all that knew and loved her, we would love to hear any memories you would be willing to share with us. She leaves behind her family Walter W. Whisner Sr, her son Walter W, Whisner Jr, her daughter and son-in-law Heidi and David Melton along with her sister Waltraut E. Billingslea. There was a private viewing at St John’s Family Funeral and Crematory in St. Augustine Florida for her immediate family. Her remains will be added alongside her parents in Germany, her in-laws in West Virginia, and the Chesapeake Bay so she can be among her family and favorite places she loved more than anything. I know how much you love me. As much as I love you, And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart, For ever time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart.
