Jean R. Parker

Jean R Parker, 90, of Penney Farms and formerly of St. Augustine, died Wednesday, October 16th. Born in Burnham, PA on July 13, 1934 she was the daughter of Harold and Nellie Rehmeyer. Jean graduated from Millersville University with a degree in Library Science. She worked in public libraries and schools in Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio and Massachusetts and instilled her love of reading to her children and grandchildren. Jean and Dick, her late husband, shared a passion for small group ministry and spoke often of how it impacted their lives. In addition to her love of reading, she enjoyed golf, gardening and sewing quilts. She made over 100 quilts for veterans, the homeless, nursing homes and her children and grandchildren. Jean celebrated her 90th birthday in July and was elated when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren joined her for a weekend of fun and parties. We’ll always treasure that special weekend and carry the memories forever. Surviving are Jean’s five children, Ron (Suzanne), Denise (Rob), Karen (Ken), Julie (Mike), Susan (Brian); her sisters Jess, Barbara and Yetta; two step-children, Tom (Lois) and Joy. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She loved greeting everyone on Sunday morning as they entered church and always had a positive outlook and kind word. She was ready to reunite with Dick in heaven even if we weren’t ready to let her go. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday October 25, 2024 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Ott officiating. Interment will follow at Craig Memorial Park.
