James Samuel Cassaro

James Samuel Cassaro, a beloved brother, father grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, was born on May 19, 1951 in Rockford, Illinois. On November 11, 2024, Jim left this world to be forever with God. Jim leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love and genuine care for everyone he met. Jim loved to fish and would go any chance he could. He loved baseball and played for many of his senior years with his minor league team. They won the championship four years in a row. Jim liked the Chicago Bear and rarely missed watching a game. Jim spent a lot of time at flea markets, antique malls, estate sales and garage sales. Jim had so much knowledge and history about antiques. If you ever went with him, you just knew your ears were going to fall off from absorbing all the history of anything and everything that y'all came across. The greatest thing about Jim was his big heart. In Matthew 5:16, it reads " Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" Jim lead his life like this. He loved strong and never missed a chance to tell or show a person that he loved them. He went out of his way to make someone feel special and worthy of the kind of love he gave out. He didn't show anger and his decisions always came from a place of grace and patience. When you needed someone to lean on, Jim was always that person. 1 Corinthians 4 says "Therefore, I urge you, be imitators of me". You could see God in Jim- in his actions, in his words, in his voice. He will be truly missed. Jim is survived by his girlfriend, Virginia Robbins, his three amazing sons: Travus (Kerri) Cassaro, JJ Cassaro, and Paul (Nicole) Cassaro, grandchildren: Chyan, Rylie, Ashley, Michael, Taylor, Caiden, Jacoby, Jax, Logan, Miranda, Dale, Paul Jr, Caleb, Corey, Brayden, Brooklyn, and Connor, and great-grandchildren: Charlie, Nico, Ella, Steven, Mia, Lilly, Grayson, Rosalyn, and Madelyn, Jim's sisters: Rebecca, Julie, Christina, Diane, Jean, Rose, and Jim's brothers: Patrick, Carl, Pete, Sam, John. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Priscilla and Sam Cassaro, his nieces, Shannon, Jasmine and Shania and his great nephew, Brennan. As we gather to honor Jim's memory, let us look to the words from John 14:1-3 NKJV: [1] “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. [2] In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Jim's homegoing will be December 14 from 12-5 at Historic Auto Attractions (13825 Metric Rd, 61073-7607, Roscoe, Illinois) which is perfectly fitting for Jim's celebration. His last wishes were for us to have a big potluck and laugh, enjoy and reminisce about the "good old days". You are more than welcome to bring pictures and something for the potluck.
