James R "Jim" Bria

James R. “Jim” Bria of St Augustine, Florida died on May 11, 2021 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring following a brief illness. Jim was born in Bessemer, Michigan on January 6, 1936 and resided in the area until graduating from high school. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in the United States and Libya. After completing his four years in the Air Force he enrolled at Minneapolis Business College earning his business degree. Jim embarked on his business career following graduation and held various management positions and later worked at Home Depot, which he enjoyed. He and his wife Marjie moved from the Midwest to St. Augustine in 2003 and resided in the area ever since. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Green Bay Packers and the Florida Gators. Over the years, he served the communities in which he lived in various volunteer roles as well as in his churches, and always had a helping hand for others. He was a member and Deacon of Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his friends and family, and he always looked forward to attending Church. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marjie along with son; James “Jim” P. Bria (Joann) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Ashley (Jorge) Zumba Bria, Ethan Bria and Adam Bria; great-grandchildren; Jorge Zumba Bria and Eva Marie Zumba Bria; siblings, Gretchen Bria, Gina Vescovi (Jim) and Greg Bria (Marilyn); along with several nephews and nieces. James was preceded in death by daughter Jill Bria; brother, George Bria (Kristina); and sisters, Carol English and Gloria Bria. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 22, 2021 at Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine with Rev. Dr. Hunter Camp officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
