Evelyn M Bell

Saturday, November 5, 2022, our beloved mother, Evelyn M Bell, transitioned peacefully from this life to the next. She'd been surrounded by her children days up to her passing at Baileys Hospice Center at Flagler Hospital. Born in 1933 in Washington, DC to Ola and Abram Bell, Evelyn was the third and youngest of three girls. From an early age Evy was passionate about music, art, writing, and production/theatre. She pursued many diverse creative arts early on. Poet, songwriter, sketch artist, columnist, Hawaiian dancer, and dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Studios. She worked with the little Theatre in 1948 and later at WJCT in Jacksonville in the 1970s. Eventually she earned a place as Vice President of the Fla Motion Picture & Television Association 1984-85. She was also an active member of MENSA. In 1956, Evelyn met and wed organist/singer, Chuck Irwin, at Riverside Park Methodist Church. They were married 15 yrs and bore three children. Veronica, Valerie, and Robert. Evelyn was a loving, loyal mother, and always the number one fan of each her children and grandchildren. She was our biggest cheerleader and constant supporter. Her love of all things creative was her trademark. She loved to craft gift boxes and holiday cards for us. Occasionally she sold freelance designs to Hallmark. She loved to sketch charcoals of us and was quick to greet us with trinkets so we would know she was thinking of us whenever we were apart. She was quick witted with a pen also and went onto publish her poetry in several collaborative paperbacks and ultimately penned a hardcover of her own, "The Shadow of Rainbows- 100 Life Poems". Her accomplishments were many, though she rarely thought of herself as being successful. She always wanted more outlets for her creative heart right until the very end. A true and talented artist she was, in every sense of the word. Evelyn was preceded in death by mother & father, Ola M and Abram S Bell. Sisters, Mona J Brawner, and Marian F Boone. She leaves behind her children, Veronica B, Valerie R, and Robert I. Grandchildren, Peter B, Shane M, and Hunter E, and Lorelei F. Plus many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. A celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1:30 pm at St Johns Family Funeral in St Augustine, Fla. There will be no graveside
