Daniel Mancini

Daniel “Danny” Mancini, 74, of St. Augustine (Crescent Beach), passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026 at the Bailey Center for Caring. He was born in Queens, New York, on April 27, 1952, and moved to Florida during his early teenage years, where he would go on to build a life filled with family, friendships, hard work, laughter, dancing, fishing, and plenty of good times. Danny was known for his incredibly strong work ethic. No matter what job he took on, he gave it everything he had. He was a man who lived life on his own terms—strong-willed, stubborn in the best and sometimes most challenging ways, and never afraid to stand his ground. Above all, Danny was a life-of-the-party kind of guy. He loved having a good time, dancing, fishing, and spending time with the people he cared about. He was fiercely loyal to his friends and family, and once you were someone Danny considered his own, that bond meant something. Over the years, Danny collected plenty of nicknames that reflected the personality everyone knew and loved: Spider Monkey, Bam Bam, and Popeye. Danny was legally married to his ex-wife, Karen Mancini (Sabin), for more than 25 years; children, Simone, Matthew Mancini, Danielle Buettner, Christopher Mancini, and Brandee Post; stepchildren, Monterey Green and Edward Sabin the 4th; grandchildren, Ryan, Gauge, Madeline, Gunnar, Maci, Dixi, Cash, Peyton, and Edward the 5th; sister, Brandee Nielsen (Smith); brothers, Peter Mancini, Pauly Gengo, and Jim Gengo; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Callanan Gengo; the father who raised him, Ralph Gengo; and cousins, Bobby “Yank” Callanan, Scotty Callanan & Little Scott, Chris Callanan, Mary Long (Brandee’s mother), Edward Sabin 3rd, and several other people who meant the world to Danny throughout his life. Danny would not want those who loved him to spend their lives consumed by grief. To honor him, he would want everyone to live life to the fullest, learn to process grief rather than harness it, and be a little bit easier on your body. And, of course, drink a Busch beer. A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at a later date under the 206 bridge, a place he loved and cherished. Details will be announced through Brandee’s Facebook page.
