Crezell Turner

HER GENESIS; Crezell Gilyard Turner, youngest of five daughters, born to Joe Gilyard and Lorene Randolph, August 25, 1934 in Bunell, Fla., USA. After the birth of the last child, Joe and Lorene separated and Lorene moved to St. Johns County with her two young daughters, Marie and Crezell, the summer of 1941. The family joined/worshipped with the Church of Christ, West King Street, Elder E. H. Bently, Pastor. The children attended the local Colored School #36 where Mr. James A. Webster was the Principal. Crezell later attended Excelsior High School, Mr. Richard J. Murray, Principal. Crezell completed her High School studies in 1956. HER SAMARIA; The Turner family, Willie A. Turner, Sr., Crezell and three sons moved to Broward County, Dania, Fla. the summer of 1963 where the couple acquired full-time employment, he with the school system and she with human services. Crezell completed thirty years of employment with Broward County Human Service Department. During that time she continued her education, completing further studies through Nova University and the College of Human Services, New York University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Service. The family worshipped with First Baptist Church, Piney Grove, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. C. E. Glover, Pastor until 1997. Crezell prides herself as the benefactor of a tutorial experience under Pastor Glover that equate the glue that holds her life journey together like cement and nothing can compare. In her words, “I know who I am, whose I am and Who I serve.” With this I can live anywhere, do anything and become whatever God designs for me. To God Be The Glory. HER EXODUS; Crezell enjoyed a wonderful/fruitful family life, she is the mother of three gorgeous adult sons, Donald G., Willie A., Jr. and Xavier L. She has six grandsons, one granddaughter and seven great grandchildren who will grieve her passing. She also has many, many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and a world of true friends who will miss her. She also leaves longtime friend and father of her children, Willie A. Turner, Sr. She was predeceased by her son, Willie and her sister, Marie Mitchel. Crezell moved back to St. Augustine December 1999 where she resided as a homeowner until her demise. She enjoyed worship services at numerous churches in this area and is a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. James M. Sams is the Pastor. What a wonderful and joyous journey—I would not have missed it for the world. THANK YOU LORD.
