Brett Lowell Rhoden

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Brett Lowell Rhoden, a cherished member of our community, who left us on August 20, 2026, at the age of 74. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Brett dedicated his life to helping others and making a lasting impact on countless livesespecially the most vulnerable and underprivileged children .Brett's professional journey began with his academic pursuits at the University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree, followed by a master’s degree from the University of North Florida. His dedication as a clinical therapist then led him to work at Daniel Memorial (clinical director) and HopeHaven Hospital, where he provided crucial support to abused, abandoned, and neglected children. His passion for healing and understanding made him an exceptional therapist,influencing the lives of many even to the point of clients contacting him decades later to express their gratitude for the care they received that led to restored health. More recently, Brett owned and operated First Coast Assessments, where he continued to offer remote therapy to private clients, showcasing his adaptability and commitment to his vocation in evolving times. In his earlier years, Brett found great joy in being on the water as an avid water skier. He was also a longtime gun enthusiast going to the gun range every Friday for years. Brett married Nancy Myer Reigger Newman in 2004. Their union was a testament to enduring love through numerous health obstacles. He was also a member of the American Civility Association and recently became a believer who sought to be an instrument of the Lord. Brett’s best friends JD and Jessie were by his side when he passed away. As we remember Brett, we reflect on the legacy of compassion he leaves behind in the lives of his patients. A Celebration of Life will be held 6:30pm on Monday, September 28th at the County Dock, 2438 County Dock Rd. Jacksonville, FL (parking recommended at Walter Jones Historic Park). In lieu of flowers, donations in Brett's memory can be made to the American Civility Association www.americancivility.org. He will be deeply missed and was preceded in death by his parents J.D. Rhoden and Jean Claire along with his wife Nancy. He is survived by his stepson, Mason Reigger (Lilith), daughter-in-love Nicole Hall, and two godchildren (Tristan SkylrHall, Cody Russell Hall). St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
