Bonny Sue Andrews

Bonny Sue (McGuirt) Andrews, of St. John’s County passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 15, 2022, in St. Augustine, Florida. Bonny was born in Palm Beach, Florida and was beloved by her parents Bernice Eva Russell and James “Jaycee” Clyde. She graduated from Southwest Miami High School in 1964. In 1973 she met her future husband Captain George Matthew Andrews, a pilot with Eastern Airlines for over 26 years and a business owner for over 45 years. Bonny and George were married at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church by Father Demosthenes J. Mekras on July 31, 1980, in Miami, Florida. The couple traveled to many wonderful places such as London, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Mexico City. The family enjoyed going to New York City for Christmas time. They had wonderful stays at the Plaza and Waldorf Astoria, skating at Rockefeller Center, and seeing the Radio City Rockettes and many Broadway shows. George and Bonny owned one of the oldest restaurants in South Miami called Fox’s Sherron Inn. For the holidays, Bonny spent numerous hours decorating the entire restaurant and while people would enjoy their dinner and cocktails, they couldn’t believe how beautiful the restaurant was and made them more in love with the establishment and even more, it put them into the Christmas spirit. She also had a great eye for interior decorating and enjoyed remodeling her house and condo throughout the years. Bonny had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and was such a joy to be around. She was the type of woman that whenever she entered the room, all eyes were on her. She was very involved with helping charities and foundations. One of her favorites is Joe DiMaggo’s Childrens Hospital. More than anything she was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She was always a person who put others needs before her own and always took care of her family. She was always there for every tennis match, baseball game, football game, and basketball game. She was our biggest cheerleader. She is treasured by her George, daughters, Karri, Evangeline, and Alexis, her son “Sonny boy” Matthew, grandchildren, Jason James, Matthew George Jr., and August James.
