Obituary for Bob McClemens (Merle Robert McClemens II) Bob McClemens, beloved husband and father, peacefully set sail on his final voyage October 29, 2025, in St. Augustine, Florida. He was 77 years old. Born on September 2, 1948, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Merle Robert McClemens and Wilma Jean (McClemens) Webb. He lived a life guided by love, integrity, and a spirit of adventure. Captain Bob found peace and purpose on the open water and loved entertaining friends and family aboard his sailboat. Sailing was a place where he could feel the wind, follow the horizon, and reflect on life. He was known for his wisdom and vivid storytelling. He shared his love of sailing by teaching countless others how to navigate both the sea and life’s unpredictable tides. At the heart of everything was his love for his wife, Judy. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, partnership, and many memories. Their bond was steady and enduring, the truest compass in his life. Captain Bob was a proud father to his two children, Chad and Missy. He loved them deeply and took great pride in the people they have become. His wisdom and unwavering support will forever guide them, just as his steady hand once guided his sails. He is survived by his wife, Judy McClemens of Elkton, Florida; his children, Chad McClemens of Phoenix, Arizona, and Missy (Jay) Baker of Jacksonville, Florida; his step grandson Bryce Baker of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother Dick (Jeanne) McClemens of Kearney, Nebraska; his sister-in-law Cindy (Dave) Roberton, of Winona, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, Merle Robert McClemens, his mother, Wilma Jean (McClemens) Webb and stepfather, Wayne Webb; his paternal grandparents, Grant and Anna McClemens, and his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Mildred Tabor. A private celebration of his life will be held in honor of his memory, and his ashes will be scattered at sea, where he spent some of his happiest days at the helm of his sailboat. Though he has left the harbor, his love and legacy will continue to guide those who knew him.
