Benjamin Lee Elliott

Benjamin (Ben) Lee Elliott, 15, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at 8:03 p.m., after an almost three year battle with Atypical Teratoid Rhaboid Tumor of the brain and spine. Often referred to as an old soul, Ben had a love for folk music, family time, quiet conversation and solitude. He was calm-mannered but also carried his sass and sarcasm with him bringing smiles and laughter to all who knew him. As a homeschooler, Ben was able to pursue and enjoy many interests including history, ships, trains, rockets and engineering. He also loved cooking and playing video games. His close-knit family cherished annual Disney trips with grandparents, a great aunt, aunt, uncle and cousins. He also loved learning about behind-the-scenes Disney history and trivia. Ben had a deep love for his immediate and extended family and friends and their time together, which was always peppered with shenanigans and an abundance of inside jokes. Throughout his courageous battle against cancer, Ben inspired those around him with his optimism, perseverance through trials and gentle spirit. He was lovingly cared for by his family and the doctors, nurses and staff of Nemours Children’s Health, Wolfsons Children’s Hospital, The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute and Brooks Rehab Hospital. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Darren Klawinski, MD, for his care and guidance all along Ben’s journey. For these people Ben’s family is very grateful. Ben is survived by his mother, Lauree (Baysinger) Elliott; his sisters Genevieve and Vivienne Elliott; his twin brother Alexander (Alex) Elliott; maternal grandparents Richard (Ric) and Carolyn Sue Baysinger. He was preceded in death by his father, Daric Edward Elliott; and paternal grandmother, Marcella Elliott. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 2:00 p.m., at Mandarin United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. The service will be followed by fellowship and food in the church’s Wesley Hall.
