Barbara Pacetti Cupples

Barbara “Bobbi” Pacetti Cupples, 86, of St. Augustine, FL, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2018 and has transitioned to her final destination in Heaven. Barbara was born on November 29, 1932 in Green Cove Springs, FL to Edward Francis and Estelle (Parker) Pacetti. Barbara spent her early years in St Augustine, FL and graduated from St Joseph Academy with the class of 1949. Barbara then went on to complete her Bachelor Degree in Mathematics at the University of Florida. Barbara enjoyed a long career in education. She helped establish Melbourne Central Catholic High School, and taught at numerous schools including, Melbourne High School, Ketterlinus Jr. High School, and Orange Park Middle School. While still teaching Barbara began her career in real estate joining the family real estate firm in the mid 1970’s. Barbara eventually left the teaching field and turned her attention full time to the real estate industry where she continued to work for the rest of her life. Barbara was the oldest of her siblings and was a true leader of the family. She was intelligent beyond her years as is witnessed by her graduating high school at the age of 16. This accomplishment was even more impressive given the fact she grew up in a home without electricity or running water. While the home may have lacked for electricity and running water, it did not lack for love. Barbara was a kind, loving, and generous individual and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Cupples; a son Nicholas Lagasse; and a granddaughter Megan Watkins. She is survived by her children: Al Lagasse of the Philippines; Theresa Trawick of Melbourne, FL; Mike Lagasse of East Palatka, FL; Wayne Lagasse of Satsuma, FL; Jane Kinzie of Franklin, NC; Chris Lagasse of St Augustine, FL and David Lagasse of St Augustine, FL. Barbara also raised her oldest grandson, Michael Lagasse as a son. She is survived by siblings Jeannine Lagasse, Terry Pacetti, David Pacetti and Dianna Siddons of St Augustine, and Roland Pacetti of Palatka, FL. Barbara is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. Barbara had a total of 84 direct descendents attesting to her love of family. A service celebrating her life will be held on December 9, 2018 at Destiny Church in St Augustine, FL. The celebration begins at 4:00 pm and will be followed by a reception at the church. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
