William Morgan Belford, Jr.

William (Bill) Belford passed away peacefully on April 22, 2022. He was surrounded by family and loved ones who were all fortunate enough to be touched by his humor, wisdom, compassion, and unconditional love. Born in 1931 to Isabelle and William M. Belford, Sr., Bill grew up in Union, New Jersey and attended Union High School. After high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan. After the service, he attended Texas A&M University and graduated with an engineering degree and went on to work as a Civil Engineer for the Department of Defense. Bill married his hometown sweetheart Gladys who he met at church, and they went on to have three beautiful children Richard, Diane, and Donna, and several grandchildren. Bill had one brother, Arnold J. Belford. Bill was a proud Veteran and loved his country. He was an exceptionally kind and generous man. He loved to watch sports, especially baseball and golf. In his younger days he coached and refereed youth sports. He would tell his kids to “Never Quit! If someone is better and beats you then so be it, but never take yourself out!” Bill was preceded in death by his parents Isabelle and William Belford Sr. He is survived by his wife Gladys, children Richard, Diane, and Donna, and grandchildren Holly, Shelby, and Taylor, along with his brother Arnold. A private service with military honors will be held in August at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Florida. St Johns Family Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
