Steve Alexander Banton

Steve Alexander Banton, age 77 of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on February 19, 2022 at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Kanawha Falls, WV to the late Alex and Lackie Banton. Steve served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed at Naval Station Mayport on the USS Yellowstone and USS Jonas Ingram. After serving in the Navy, he went on to serve 35 years as a Park Manager in the Florida Park Service. He enjoyed birding, fishing, gardening, reading history, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Banton; daughter, Heather (Rayshoun) Golson of St. Augustine; son, Ted (Amy) Banton of St. Augustine; sisters, Myrna van der Spuy of Onancock, VA and Angela (James) Reed of Robson, WV ; grandchildren, Marley, Ashlyn, Grady, Madelyn, Brody, Harlow, CopperJohn and Annie Jane and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
