Sharon "Shari" Sue Summerson

October 8, 1946 - April 17, 2022

Sharon (Shari) Summerson (Archer), 75 years of age, passed away 04/17/2022 at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville with her daughter at her bedside. She was born in Dayton, Ohio to Harold Archer and Lorell Archer (White). She graduated from Adrian High School. She continued her education receiving her master’s degree in special education from Eastern Michigan. Upon completing her master’s degree in special education, she taught for 35 years in elementary special education, before retiring in 2013. She made such an amazing impact on her students and on all those that had the privilege of working with her and learning from her. She lived life to the fullest. To know her was to love her. She loved going to the beach, art festivals, concerts, exploring local theaters, museums, and art galleries. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She received a miracle of a single lung transplant in December 2014 due to diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis which became life threatening quickly. After she received this miracle of life, she did not take one day of her life for granted. She always valued the gift of life she was given through from her organ donor and their family. She spent her days loving her family and building wonderful memories. She also made a decision to return to the Catholic Church. She very active with the Catholic Church by volunteering with the food pantry, Saint Vincent DePaul, and she was an usher. She also volunteered with her local donate for life charity. Shari is survived by her: son; Ted (Donna) Ludlow; daughter; Rachel (Frankie) Hester, grandchildren; Aaron (Faith), Sarah, Michael, Nicholas, Mickey (Patrick), Charlie, Patrick, Mackenzie, and Duncan, great-grandchildren; Summer, Branson, Emma, Hunter, Gabe, Benji, Oliver, and Dawson; sisters, Shawn Harris, and Lori Archer; close friends Mason (Sarah) Ludlow, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Archer and Lorell Archer, and her sister Renee Howard. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date with the gathering of close family members. In honor of Shari’s memory, we would love for you to consider the gift of blood donation and organ donation by registering as an organ donor. Monetary donations would be appreciated in remembrance of her to the organizations of your local chapter of donate for life, pulmonary fibrosis foundation, your local catholic church food pantry, or any charity of your choice.
