Sandra Jean Hollenbaugh

July 18, 1945 - February 15, 2022

Sandra Jean Hollenbaugh, age 76, of St. Augustine, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2022. She was born and raised in Newville, PA to the late John David Hollenbaugh and Arlene Elizabeth Swavely. She was a 1963 graduate from Big Spring High School. Later she moved her family to St. Augustine where she worked as a bartender for many years at High Chaparral in the 80’s and 90’s. For several years after that she worked as a waitress at the Columbia in downtown St. Augustine. In her spare time she loved painting and scrapbooking. But Sandra’s true passion was her family and friends, she enjoyed every moment with them. She is survived by her daughter, Nichole May (Michael); niece, Nyree Longo; great niece and nephew, Kylee and Nicholas Longo and her significant other, Richard Crooks, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Gloria Hollenbaugh and Beverly Hollenbaugh. One night I had a dream: I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and across the skies flashed scenes from my life. In each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One was mine, and One was the Lord’s. When the last scene of my life appeared before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand, and to my surprise I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it was at the lowest and saddest times in my life. I asked the Lord about it. “Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way. But I notice that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why you left my side when I needed you most.” The Lord replied, “My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, where you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.” St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
