Montgomery Counts "Montie" Skeen

Montgomery Counts “Montie” Skeen, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2022 at Flagler Hospital. He was born to Silas and Betty Jo (Evans) Skeen in Abingdon, Virginia and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee at the age of 14. After graduating from Central High School, he proudly served as an Intelligence Specialist (Air Warfare) in the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 2000. He achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer. After his retirement from the Navy, Montgomery started his own business as a private investigator in St. Augustine. He enjoyed music and played in a bluegrass band, “ The Rebel Grass Band” for 20 years. He was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Mase-Skeen; son, Jesse Skeen; stepchildren, Stephanie Almond (Matthew) and Elizabeth Cooper; grandchildren, Tatum Almond and Tre Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Tony Skeen. Private service will be held at a later date. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
