Mirek Snopek, age 88, of Elkton Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26. 2022 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Mirek was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on October 2, 1933. He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Jennifer and his wife of 1 year, Sigrid. He was the Father to Thomas and Clair, grandfather to Finnley and Nicholas and Father in-law to Corinna and Fred. He is also survived by his sister, Eva Dvorak and brother-in-law, Jarda. Mirek grew up under Nazi Rule and escaped the iron rule of communism and emigrated to America in 1953. He served as a translator and military policeman for the US Army for 5 years, being stationed in Hanau, Germany. After being honorably discharged from the Army he moved to New Jersey and founded a Broadcast Television video company and worked as a Freelance cameraman for major networks including ABC, CBS and NBC for many years, traveling around the world. He retired in 1994 and took to the sea, pursuing his passions of travel and sailing. He and his wife, Jennifer and their fearless dog Daisy moved to Sunset Harbour Yacht Club in Miami Beach and sailed around the Caribbean Sea visiting many countries and beautiful places. He moved to Coquina Crossing in Elkton Florida in 2006 and lived out the rest of his years. He enjoyed relaxing and talking with his friends and neighbors at Coquina Crossing. Services will be held in private.
