Mary Catherine Willis Hagan

March 16, 1939 - January 26, 2022

Mary Catherine “Cathy” Willis Hagan passed away on Wednesday, January 26th at the age of 82 with her daughters at her side. She was born and raised in Savannah, GA to her late parents; Allen and Catherine Willis. Growing up in Savannah, Mary loved to climb trees with her cousins, go barefoot and sing. She graduated with honors from St. Vincent's Academy (SVA), a private, Catholic, all-female high school in downtown Savannah, where she bonded with a group of Savannah girls who remained friends all their lives. Mary attended Armstrong College and the University of Georgia where she met and married her late husband, Harry Hagan. Mary left Savannah after getting married and continued a trek across the country living in South Carolina, Ohio, Maryland, New York and Florida. She and Harry owned and operated radio stations, was a Disc Jockey and radio celebrity in Blountstown and Perry, FL known as “Miss Cathy.” Mary loved her children, her grandchildren and, actually, ALL children. A staunch Irish Catholic, Mary’s love for God, admiration for Jesus and devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary was apparent in her everyday life and throughout her many years of service to her prison ministries. Mary is survived by her daughters; Diane Hagan Scherff, Lee Anne Hagan and Christine Hagan, and late son, Skip Hagan and four grandchildren; Brandon and Savannah Scherff, Lance and Landon Hagan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00 a.m. Saturday January 29, 2022 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine. Interment will be in Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah, GA on Monday 3:15 p.m. January 31, 2022. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
