Karen E. Kirby, age 81, of St. Augustine, passed away on February 4, 2022 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring Born and raised in Breslau, Germany, she met her husband, Paul, while he was serving as a soldier in Germany. Towards the end of her husband’s military career the couple settled in St. Augustine in 1976 with their three children. Karen worked as head cashier at a Publix in St. Augustine for nearly a decade. She enjoyed taking care of her dogs, reading, television and listening to German music. More than anything else she loved her family. Karen is survived by her son, David Kirby , his wife, Virginia and her grandchildren, Steven, Sandra and William. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Kirby and daughters, Sandra and Patricia Kirby. A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday , February 12, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with celebrant, Pastor Father Edward Murphy. Interment will follow at San Lorenzo Cemetery. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
