Joshua Claude McNeill

August 19, 1985 - June 9, 2022

With deepest sorrow we announce that Joshua Claude McNeill, age 36, our most beloved son, brother, and family member, passed away suddenly on June 9th, 2022. Joshua was born on August 19th, 1985 in Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He was always a very good student and an avid sports enthusiast. He played basketball and soccer for St Hugh’s Church and baseball for his elementary school. He also attended the silent flute Jiu Jitsu school for a number of years. Joshua and his family moved to St John’s county Florida in 1999. Joshua then spent time fishing with his dad, but his first love was surfing. He would surf for four or five hours straight. He graduated from Bartram Trail High School, with honors, in 2003. He then went on to earn his Bachelor’s of Science in Entertainment Business Management from Full Sail University in 2007. Joshua was an avid reader and enjoyed using books to expand his knowledge and understanding of the world. His greatest gift was that he was always kind and respectful to everyone he met. He especially connected with the elderly, children and animals. Joshua would give someone the shirt off of his back if he thought they needed it more than he did. He could always make you laugh telling stories about his family like his Grandmother’s and his fishing escapades. He was enjoying life starting a new career as an apprentice with an Electrical Company. The very last picture taken of him was of him assisting a senior citizen with a technical issue. This is what he did on this earth, “Love and Serve”. Joshua had so much goodness, so much capacity to bring happiness to others, and he had such a bright future. Joshua is survived by his father Joshua McNeill, mother, Susan Hoyte McNeill, two sisters, Emily and Tamar McNeill, two grandmothers, Emily McNeill and Sylvia Randolph, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other loved ones. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 17, 2022 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service from 1-2pm.
