Janet Lee Zilles

March 23, 1961 - March 27, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our youngest sister, Janet Zilles, age 60. She fought a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Janet was born on April 23rd, 1961, in Green Bay Wisconsin to Aloysius and Ermalee Zilles. She graduated from Preble High School and UW Eau Claire. She received her master’s degree in Education from Marian College. Janet was a kind, generous and compassionate elementary school teacher with a wonderful sense of humor. She was passionate about providing the best education possible for her students by helping them to meet their full potential. She began her teaching career in Bonduel, WI. In 2005 Janet moved to Florida and taught at Browning-Pierce Elementary School in Palatka. She retired in December of 2020. Janet spent her summers back in Wisconsin with family and friends, but was always happy to return to the beach, the blue skies and sunshine. Janet is survived by her very special niece, Ashley Smith and Ashley’s family, Andy, Hailey, Brooklyn, Palmer, Parker, and Peyton. She is also survived by her siblings; John Zilles (Melanie), Judy Giesler, Jo Houston (John) and Jane Zilles, nieces and nephews John, Peter, Renee, Natalie, and Margie. Janet was proceeded in death by her parents, her fur babies; Bacardi and Ginny, her brother-in-law Ed Giesler and nephew Brian Houston. The family wishes to thank the Community Hospice and the Bailey Family Center for Caring for all their compassion and assistance. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Janet’s favorite charities: Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol PO Box 50723 Jacksonville Beach, Fl. 32240-0723 St Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
