James Richard Hill, of Jacksonville, aged 83, passed away on April 1,2022 at Baptist South Center Community Hospice. Born on May 16,1938 in Waterloo, Iowa, Jim and his identical mirror twin, Gene, enjoyed spending their summers as youths on their grandparent’s farm in Iowa. Receiving his undergraduate degree from Baylor University, Jim went on to further his studies at Brigham Young University where he earned his Masters degree in Musicology. For twelve years, Jim was a music professor, with his last teaching position being at Biola University in Los Angeles, CA. After moving to North Florida, Jim became a soybean farmer for many years. Continuing his education in Florida, he studied horticulture at Florida State University, eventually being employed as a Master Gardener at Disney World in Orlando. Employed at Disney for 25 years, Jim received a perfect attendance award, never missing a day of work. While living in Orlando, Jim met his wife, Jacqueline. The couple loved traveling and exploring new cultures, making multiple trips to Europe and Canada. Jim and Jackie also enjoyed week- ends in different parts of Florida, attending festivals, musical concerts and plays. A member of First Baptist Church in Orlando, Jim played the trombone in the church orchestra for many years. Believing in community service, Jim was a 52-gallon blood donor over his lifetime. A loving husband, Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving Jim is his wife, Jacqueline; twin brother, Gene Hill (Eleanor) of Austin, TX and nephews, Michael (Janna) Hill, Jeffrey (Audrey) Hill and niece, Julie (Ed) Veeser. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 8,2022 at Fruitland Township Cemetery in Muskegon, Michigan. St. Johns Family Funeral Home of St Augustine, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
