Edmond Hagan, 78, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2022. He is survived by Denise Hagan, his wife of almost 38 years, and siblings Robert Hagan, Helen Coffman, and Brian Hagan. Ed was born in Philadelphia, PA, graduating from Radnor High School. He attended Villanova University on a track scholarship, where he also played NCAA Division I football and basketball. Upon earning a bachelor’s degree in the Arts & Sciences Honors Program, he was accepted into medical school, but decided to take a different direction. He completed master’s degree studies in Communications through the University of Pennsylvania and Ph.D. studies in American Literature from St. Louis University. He began his career in advertising. And although draft-exempt, he volunteered for the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He reached the rank of Captain with Top Secret/Cryptographic Clearance. He was Commander of HQ Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service (HQ MAC); Commander and Nuclear Authentication Officer (USAF Human Reliability Program), 708th AC&W SQ; and Executive Officer of HQ Military Airlift Command (DCS Operations). He earned 3 Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, and an Outstanding Unit Citation. Ed was a true Renaissance Man, training people in multilingual environments on subjects ranging from computers/technology to “How to Watch American Football,” a popular program he developed specifically for women. He was an award-winning writer, actor, model, professor, SCUBA instructor and underwater photographer, martial arts instructor, championship coach, record-breaking sales manager and developer of computer products, business leader, classic sports car enthusiast, avid runner, and lifetime learner. Ed made his home in the Hammock in Flagler County, FL. St Johns Family Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
