Carl Calhoun Wells III

June 22, 1961 - April 19, 2022

Carl C. Wells III, 60, passed away April 19, 2022, at his home in St. Augustine, Florida. He was born in Jacksonville, FL to Carl Calhoun Wells Jr., and Alberta (Buddy) P. Dunsavage. He attended Clay High School (Class of 1979), where he grew up in Green Cove Springs, FL on a cattle farm with his mother and father. Upon completing high school, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1980 and worked with the U.S. Secret Service from 1982 to 1986 in the White House Communications Agency under President Ronald Reagan. He went on to continue his career in telecommunications for over 25 years as the owner of Wells Communication Services. After retirement, he carried on his passion in telecommunications, mostly to help his friends in various hunting and farming communities across the country. Carl loved cooking, fishing, gardening, working on his truck and his boat. He loved to cook for everyone while watching NASCAR and the Florida Gators and brought food to his neighbors and family regularly. He loved to fish Moultrie Creek, and he loved to grow datil peppers to make all his sauces and jelly. He has every tool known to man, and never hesitated to lend his things to those in need. He lived his life serving others. His children wish to continue his legacy in the local community, helping others and sharing stories for years to come. Carl is survived by his daughters, Caley C. Wells (30) and Dawn H. Wells (37), his son, Philip M. Wells (35); grandchildren Luke (7) and Hunter (7). He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Calhoun Wells Jr., and Alberta (Buddy) P. Wells.
