Agnes "Aggie" McClain

March 24, 1938 - January 30, 2022

Agnes "Aggie" McClain, 83, of St Augustine, Florida died at her home on January 30, 2022. She was born in The Bronx, New York on March 24, 1938. Agnes attended local schools and graduated from high school in The Bronx before moving to New Jersey which is where she met Peter McClain. She and Peter married in 1982 and travelled extensively as Peter’s job as a dredging supervisor had them moving quite a bit. They lived in Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, California, Puerto Rico, and other locations. They settled in St Augustine in 2002 and made it their home. St Augustine was a great home for Agnes as she enjoyed fishing and found many local fishing holes. She also enjoyed line dancing in her earlier years, travelling and treasured her time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending her summers in New Jersey with her family. Agnes is survived by her husband Peter McClain. They would have celebrated 40 years of marriage in March 2022. She is also survived by sons Matthew Carney and Kirk Carney; daughter, Colleen Carney; stepdaughters, Kelly McClain, Patti McClain and LeeAnn Exner; stepson, Peter McClain Jr.; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Agnes was preceded in death by sons Michael Carney and Lawrence Carney along with her parents and 12 siblings. The family will hold a private gathering in her memory.
