Sorenzo Nimmons Jr.

Sorenzo Nimmons, Jr., age 44, passed away on August 30, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. Sorenzo was born on August 24, 1980, in St. Augustine, FL, to parents, Sorenzo Nimmons, Sr. and Myrna Findley McKinney. He attended St. Augustine High School and the First Coast Technical Center. He worked for Barnacle Bills Seafood Restaurant where he became a Certified Prep Cook and worked for over 14 years. After losing his father and best friend on the same day in 2014, Sorenzo sought a fresh start by moving to San Antonio, Texas, to further pursue his career in the restaurant industry. He worked at Acadiana Cafe, a seafood restaurant in San Antonio for 8 years. Sorenzo was truly a larger-than-life character. He was loving, had a big heart, and lit up every room he entered. He became an uncle figure to many of his friends' children. More than anything, Sorenzo loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, cooking in or cooking out. He didn't need much of a reason to gather with his family. He had a lifelong passion for old-school cars and loved to make people happy. He will be deeply missed. Sorenzo was preceded in death by his father, Sorenzo Nimmons; paternal grandparents, Verdell Nimmons and John Lyons, Sr; and his maternal grandfather, Ulysses Findley. He is survived by his mother, Myrna McKinney; sister, Janice McKinney; brother, Robert McKinney, and a nephew, Dustin Bryant, Jr. all of St. Augustine. He was a father figure and enjoyed helping raise AJ and Jose. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Findley; aunties, Phillis Pearson (Tony), Crystal Walker (Kevin), Barbara Cooper, Theresa Poole (Willie); uncles, Eric Findley (Bert), and Rickie Nimmons. He cared for and loved a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and god children A celebration of Sorenzo's life will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 16th, 2024 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Minister Byron Cohen officiating.
