Sarah Elizabeth Mims

Sarah Elizabeth Mims, age 34 of St. Augustine, passed away January 19th, 2019 following complications due to a tragic automobile accident that took place on January 9th, 2019 on US1 North. Sarah was born at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine at 9:30am, and spent the majority of her adult life living in her hometown. During her teenage and early adult years, Sarah lived in Athens, GA and surrounding vicinity, which she came to think of as her second home to St. Augustine. Sarah was a stay at home mother, but had many hobbies and intellectual pursuits that she was passionate about. She had a way with words that many of us envied, which was displayed in her passion for poetry and music. Music followed her everywhere she went, and many of those that love her have their own theme song just for her. In the past year, Sarah had begun developing an interest in essential oils, candles and bath bombs, with hopes of starting her own business as a homeopathic apothecary. She was loved by her friends, family and even strangers, she was loved by all. Sarah lived for her family, and though half of her immediate family lives in north Georgia, Sarah was always ready to make the 450 mile trip to be with those that she loved. She is one of the few of us that was able to balance being rational and level-headed, while maintaining a heart of gold that extended to all that she loved. She is survived by her 11 year old daughter, Kearah Phillips of St. Augustine, FL; fiancé Gregory Barnes of St, Augustine, FL; mother Carrie Allen of St. Augustine, FL; father Michael Mims of Athens, GA; former stepmother Michelle DeFoe of Athens, GA; sister(s) Holly Mims of Athens, GA, Christina DeFoe of Griffin, GA; Danielle, DeFoe of Athens, GA; Alicia DeFoe of Athens, GA; brother Thomas Mims of Athens, GA; Uncle(s) Randy Mims of St. Augustine, FL and Ray Mims of Arnoldsville, GA; Aunt(s) Dorothy Beck of St. Augustine, FL and Karen Mims of Arnoldsville, GA, and many cousins and extended family. A memorial service will be held on Friday January 25th, 2019 at 11:00AM at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 8 Carrera Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084. We are encouraging all that love Sarah to attend and extend our heartfelt thanks to those that have reached out with their cherished memories of her. St. Johns Family Funeral Home will be in charge of all of the arrangements.
