Sandra Hundley Stevens

Born in Eden, North Carolina, Sandy was raised in Greensboro and lived in both Kernersville and Gastonia. She and her family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1981, returned to North Carolina to reside in Leland in 2012, and settled in St. Augustine, Florida in 2020. After graduating from the University of North Carolina Greensboro she enjoyed careers as a teacher, legal secretary, office and facilities manager, and volunteering in her community. Sandy married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Stevens, just after graduation. She passed away two weeks before they celebrated their 54th anniversary. Traveling was one of her favorite pastimes and Jerry was her favorite guide from the mountains of North Carolina to the Danube River in Europe. They shared two daughters, Laura and Amy, to whom she dedicated her time and love every day of their life; Sandy never missed an art show for Laura or a sporting event for Amy. She encouraged their every passion leaving behind only the best memories of cherished childhood moments. Sandy treasured her twin sister, Cindy Phillips, looking forward to walks on the beach, long conversations, and late-night ice cream. She spent the last decade of her life pouring her gentle kindness into her grandchildren, Mary Evelyn, Rosalie, and Noah, and passing on her legacy of faith and love to the youngest generation. She cared deeply for extended family and friends. The priority of Sandy’s life was her faith in Jesus Christ. She volunteered with her church youth ministry and her daughters’ school offices. Through prayer she lifted up every person she encountered, actively living her faith in public and private. When Sandy took her last breath on earth, she took her first in Heaven awaiting the day when those she cherished here will join her. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Pauline Hundley, and brother-in-law, Jim Phillips. She is survived by her forever love, Jerry; daughter, Laura Stevens; daughter Amy, her husband Tanner, and their children, Mary Evelyn, Rosalie, and Noah. She is also survived by her sister, Cindy; niece Kristen, her husband Micah, and their daughters Sarah and Anna. A service will be held to celebrate Sandy’s life and faith on Saturday, June 10th at 2 pm at Colonial Church in St. Augustine, Florida (550 FL-207, St. Augustine, FL 32084).
