Ruth Ann Sabaka

Ruth Ann Sabaka, 88, of St. Augustine, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. Ruth was born on May 18, 1937, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Troy and Catherine Cunningham. She dedicated many years of her life to the medical field, working as an office manager, and later pursued a career in real estate. Above all, Ruth cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Ruth immersed herself in prayer and the reading of Scripture. She had a passion for sharing the Gospel and faithfully proclaimed the truths of her Lord and Savior throughout her life. Ruth shared 55 loving years of marriage with her husband, James H. Sabaka, who preceded her in death on November 1, 2015, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident they were involved in together. The lasting effects of that tragedy remained with Ruth throughout her life, as she endured surgeries and rehabilitation while carrying the loss of her beloved husband. Through it all, she rested in the promises of her Lord. Today, they are reunited, and their faith has become sight. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Abood, and her brothers, Dennis Cunningham and James Cunningham. She is survived by her loving children, Candy Sullivan and her husband, Sully, James H. Sabaka, Jr., and Jeff Sabaka and his wife, Katie; her grandsons, Zachary Sullivan and his wife, Brittany, and Troy Sabaka and his wife, Ashley; her great-grandchildren, Zoey Sullivan, Zaylie Sullivan, and Zyla Sullivan; her siblings, Rev. Bill Cunningham and his wife, LaMoin, Dorothy Winkhart, Evie Miller and her husband, Ron, Dale Cunningham and his wife, Barb, and Cindy Bruce and her husband, Chuck; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Community Hospice for their compassionate care and commitment during Ruth’s final journey on earth. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at St. Johns Family Funeral Home in St. Augustine, followed by funeral services at 12:00 noon.
