Ruby Marie Worley

Ruby Marie Worley January 17, 1926 - March 23, 2018 Ruby Marie Worley, 92, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2018, at Silver Creek Retirement Center in St. Augustine with her loving husband by her side. Ruby was born January 17, 1926, the youngest of three children of Lee Thompson Tuell and Pearl Marie Tindall Tuell of West Point, KY. Ruby graduated from West Point High School where she and her high school sweetheart, Emmett (Jack) Worley, were King and Queen in his senior year. Ruby and Jack married after Jack’s return from his military service in Europe during World War II. They moved from Kentucky to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in 1960, where Ruby worked at the Ft. Lauderdale News as a dispatcher in the photography department. In 1974 Ruby and Jack moved to Missouri to be near his step-mother. Jack and Ruby moved backed to Florida in the early 1980s, and Ruby worked for Dr. and Mrs. Gills in Tarpon Springs for nine years before returning to Missouri to again be with Jack’s step-mother. They all moved to St. Augustine in 1996, where Ruby worked in the bakery at Publix in Moultrie Square before retiring. Ruby and Jack were happily married 72 years. Ruby attended church regularly and read her Bible and devotionals daily. Her greatest pleasure was making a wonderful home for her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, sewing,and all types of crafts. In her later years Ruby enjoyed riding her 3-wheel bicycle, almost daily for many years. Ruby is predeceased by her brother, Lt. Col. E.L. (Ike) Tuell, USAF. She is survived by her husband, Jack, sister Dorothy Basham, Louisville, KY, sons, Jerry, Boca Raton, FL, Glenn (Barbara), Nashville, TN, and Richard (Gloria), St. Augustine; grandchildren, Katrina (Calvin) Davis, St. Augustine, Natalie (David) Cañons, St. Augustine, Briana (Joel) Heitman, Franklin, TN, Mark D. (Kali) Worley, Franklin, TN, and Trevor (Stacey) Worley, Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren Tye Cañons, Xander Vance, Aaliyah Davis, Maximilian Cañons, Ruby Jane Worley, and Damian Ty Davis, nieces, Susan Shoraka, Jacksonville, FL and Carolyn Baynham, Tequesta, FL, and nephew, Michael Basham, Louisville, KY. A funeral service will be held at St. Johns Family Funeral Home at 5:00PM Wednesday, April 4. The family will greet friends and relatives before the service from 4:00PM to 5:00PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made toVitas Hospice, 100 Whetstone Pl., Suite 300, St. Augustine, FL 32086.
