Ronald A "Ronnie" Balsamo

Ronald A. “Ronnie” Balsamo, age 87, of Saint Johns, Florida passed away on October 10, 2022. Ronnie was born in New York City and grew up in Montclair, NJ. He was a graduate of Montclair High School where he was a State Champion Broad Jumper. Ronnie graduated from Rutgers University School of Pharmacy in Newark, NJ and served his country in the U.S. Army. Ronnie spent many years working for Cosmetic Fair Drugs in Rockaway Township, NJ and was a well-loved Pharmacist in the area. He was patient and kind to all his customers, and always had a smile on his face, a joke to share, and words of encouragement. Ronnie retired from Dover General Hospital in 1999. Ronnie and his wife of 64 years, Agnes, raised four children in Rockaway Township, NJ. Ronnie always put his family first, encouraging his children to do well in school, and participate in sports and extracurricular activities. He gave back to his community by coaching softball, soccer, and wrestling. Whenever the community had a need, he raised his hand and stepped up to the plate. After his retirement, he and Agnes moved to Westampton, NJ. While in Westampton, he became very involved with his grandchildren, encouraging them to do well in school and become involved in sports and other activities. It was in Westampton that he first acquired a love for fishing. Ronnie and Agnes moved to Saint Johns, Florida, in 2008, and Ronnie spent many hours in his jon boat fishing the Florida lakes. A life-long NY Football Giants fan, Ronnie never failed to cheer on his Boys in Blue. Ronnie loved his standard poodles. The highlight of his day was walking the neighborhood with Heather, waving and chatting with the neighbors. More than anything Ronnie cherished his time with family. Sundays were always set aside to eat dinner with family and share their lives together. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Balsamo; children, Ronald Balsamo, Jr. (Marlo), Nancy Bruen (Elliott), Margaret Balsamo and John Balsamo (Cheryl); grandchildren, Conor, Corina, Kylee, Jake and Melchor; great grandchildren, Hazel and Zephyr and his standard poodle, Heather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Efisio Balsamo and Adair Moleta. A memorial will be held at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church,1718 FL-13, Fruit Cove, FL 32259 on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
