Nora Kathleen Keen

Nora (Kathy) Keen went to be with our Lord, surrounded by family on the evening of Wednesday September 13, 2023 at 91 years old. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to Irish Immigrants. Kathy was raised Catholic in Atlantic City, NJ by her Mother Anna (Creally-Lyons) and, her Father, Francis Lyons. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Brother, two Sisters and, eldest Son, Harry Huffmaster Jr.. Kathy had five children, Harry P. Huffmaster Jr. (daughter in-law Patricia), Kathleen A. Hirschlein (son-in law, John), Linda D. Swangler (son in-law Joseph), Michael J. Huffmaster (daughter inlaw Carol), and Bobbie Jo Graham (son in-law Larry). She is survived by her children: Kathleen, Linda, Michael, and Bobbie Jo. Grandchildren: Victoria Gaskins, Reisha Huffmaster, Joseph E Swangler, Harry Huffmaster Jr.ll, Raymond (wife Catherine) Huffmaster, Rachel Huffmaster, Juana Araiza, Audrianna Araiza, and Jacob Elder. Great Grandchildren: Abigail Huffmaster, Caitlyn Huffmaster, Alexis Johnson, Daniella Osorto , Daniele Huffmaster, Nichole Huffmaster, Leah DeAnda, Alaina DeAnda. Great Great Grandchildren: Giovanni Cubano and Amora Cubano. Kathy grew up poor as a child. The Catholic Church and, the family of her best friend Agnes helped to provide for Kathy. Agnes’ parents encouraged Kathy to sing and dance. She sang for special events and to the Lord at church. Her voice was that of angels. She sang on the radio and the boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ. As a young adult, she entered, won a beauty pageant and, crowned Miss St. Lawrence Seaway. Kathy struggled in adulthood with alcoholism until 1979, when one Sunday she walked into a church and accepted Jesus as Savior at age 49. Her life changed drastically that day. She committed her life to Christ, and devotion of prayer for her family’s salvation and protection. She was our family’s prayer warrior and matriarch. Kathy always gave her time in ministry to others. Her heart was for children, ministering to her Grandchildren, and serving in her church children's ministry. Her hearts most important desire, was for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to accept Christ as their Savior and, serve Him in their daily lives. Kathy, in younger years, worked as a clammer, head housekeeper in hotels, and various other jobs. In later years she worked caring for the elderly and handicapped before she retired at age 82. She always gave of herself to help others in need. She loved the color purple, flamingoes and, photos. Photos of family covered every square inch of wall, in her home and room. Her Bible was her most treasured possession and very well read. She would speak out loud to the Lord throughout the day. Everyday her Bible was open as she prayed for each child, grandchild, great grandchild and great great grandchild by name. The other important loved ones in her life are Barbara Fitzgerald, Mike and Marilyn Pasiecznyk, Tom and Gloria Tiver, Wayne and Patsy Street, Maribelle, and Rachel. Her friends Pat, Marian, Sue, and her Anastasia Church family. She also had family in Ireland and the US who prayed for her faithfully. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on October 9, 2023 at Anastasia Church 1650 A1A South, Saint Augustine, Fl. Family requests all to wear some form of the color purple. In lieu of flowers please contribute to 4 Generations to Come (4G) at Anastasia Church because her heart was for the children.
