Moriah Jordan "Moji" Whitehead

Moriah Jordan Whitehead, affectionately known to friends and family as "Moji", passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, at the age of 42. Born on May 1, 1981, in Tampa, Florida, Moji's life was a beautiful tapestry of dedication, artistry, and enduring love. In his earlier years, Moji showcased his technical aptitude as a fiber optic tech for Aurora Fiber in Tampa. The shimmering lights of fiber optics seemed to reflect his inner brilliance, an early indication of the many facets of his life to come. In 2012, Moji took a significant turn, relocating to the historic city of St. Augustine. Here, he immersed himself in the labor and rhythms of nature, working on a sod farm under the kind mentorship of Jimmy & Donna Smith. Beyond his professional life, Moji was a man of many talents. His artistic soul found an outlet in drawing, with each stroke of his pencil capturing the world – full of wonder, beauty, and moments worth preserving. Moji will be remembered for the love and dedication he poured into his family. He reveled in the joys of parenthood and cherished moments spent with his children. The recent birth of his granddaughter, Penelope, brought immense joy to his life, adding the title of 'grandfather' to his list of roles. A man of faith, Moji was a valued member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he sought spiritual guidance and fellowship. He is survived by his soulmate and constant companion, Randi Hardy of St. Augustine, with whom he shared many cherished moments. His legacy also lives on in his children: son, Alex Parries of Tampa; daughters, Zoe Hardy Whitehead and Katelynn Hardy Whitehead of St. Augustine, Jordan of Tampa, and a bonus daughter Riley Townsend. His sisters, Patience Cale and her partner Keith of North Carolina, as well as Jerrica Kaplan and her husband Joshua of Oregon, will remember their brother with deep love and affection. The newest light in his life, granddaughter Penelope Jackson of St. Augustine, will grow up hearing tales of her loving grandfather. In memory of Moji, we reflect on the imprints one person can leave on the world and the hearts of those they touch. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love will be missed, but never forgotten.
