Michael Boyd Etheridge

It is with hope in the resurrection that we announce the repose of our dear brother in Christ, Michael Boyd Etheridge, who fell asleep in the Lord on September 10, 2025. A devoted husband, father, veteran, and servant of God. Mike lived a life marked by faith, courage, and love. Born on March 13, 1959, in Norfolk, Virginia, he departed this life peacefully, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Mike’s early years as the son of a Naval officer instilled in him discipline and adaptability, qualities that would define his life’s journey. His family’s many moves broadened his perspective and deepened his sense of duty. After graduating from Terry Parker High School in 1977, he answered that call by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. At Parris Island, he embraced the rigors of Marine training and went on to serve honorably in aviation electronics, including three years in Japan. His time in the Marines left a lasting mark on his character—strengthened by honor, shaped by service, and grounded in perseverance. After completing his military service, Mike brought the same determination into civilian life, working alongside his father in business before pursuing his lifelong dream: to serve and protect his community. He graduated from the Police Academy and went on to serve with the St. Augustine Police Department for 16 years, where he earned the respect of both colleagues and community. Beyond his service, Mike carried an entrepreneurial spirit throughout his life, always working with dedication and creativity to provide for his family and to build opportunities that reflected his determination and vision. Above all things, Mike is a devout Orthodox Christian and a cherished member of St. Justin the Martyr Orthodox Church. His faith guided him throughout his life, imparting wisdom and compassion to all who knew him. Mike was a devoted husband and father, blessed with a best friend in his wife and children who carry forward his legacy of love. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ramey Etheridge; his parents, Mitchell “Mitch” and Margaret Etheridge of Virginia; daughters, Ashley Vail (Billy) of Jacksonville, April Etheridge of Florida, Karley Greene (Abby) of Tennessee, and Shaina McHugh (Phil) of England; his son, Isaac Etheridge (Victoria) of North Carolina; his sisters, Kathy Balistreri and Veronica Manuel, both of Virginia; and his grandson, Carter. He leaves behind a close-knit family who will cherish his memory and continue to honor his faith-filled legacy. Services • Friday, September 12, 2025: Visitation at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Justin the Martyr Orthodox Church with Father Theodore Pisarchuk officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. • Saturday, September 13, 2025: Visitation at 9:30 a.m., with the Divine Liturgy for the Departed at 10:00 a.m. at St. Justin the Martyr Orthodox Church. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery, with a repast meal in the fellowship hall. The family kindly requests that attendees wear bright colors on Saturday in celebration of Mike’s eternal life in Christ. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
