Marie Bernice Harrigan

Marie Bernice (Gilmore) Harrigan, age 87, of St. Augustine, passed away on June 18, 2023 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring. Known as “Granny” to those closest to her, Marie was a native and lifelong resident of St. Augustine. She attended Ketterlinus Junior High School. She met her husband, Harry Harrigan, at a church on Woodlawn Road and they were together from then until Harry’s passing. Marie was a dedicated wife and mother and took care of the home while Harry worked for the Dept. of Transportation. In addition, she worked as a dietician for over 20 years at General and Flagler Hospital. Marie was truly devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her family and in her final days, Granny described how much she loved her family and cherished the memories that reminded her of how much she was loved and how well she lived. She had come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and faithfully watched Anastasia 16 Church online. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Bernice Gilmore; husband, Harry Harrigan; a daughter Susie Baggett; brothers, Roger Gilmore and Harry Gilmore. She is survived by her son, George Harrigan Sr. of St. Augustine; a granddaughter, Lisa Marie; great grandson Dalton Hicks and his wife Jessica, great great granddaughter, Alonna Hicks; great great grandson, Jameson Pittman; great great granddaughter Chloe Hicks; great granddaughter, Helen Locklear and her husband James; great great grandson Gavin Locklear; grandson Jesse Harrigan and wife Galen; great grandson Jameson Harrigan; great grandson Jack Harrigan; grandson George Harrigan Jr and wife Kristina; great grandaughter Kathryn Boller and husband Austin; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wells and her husband Garrett; great granddaughter Karalyn Harrigan; great great granddaughter Isla Boller; great great granddaughter Lilian Boller; great great granddaughter Lainey Wells and a niece, Cindy Carter. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Anastasia Church 16 with Pastor George Harrigan officiating. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
