Lois Ann James

Lois Ann James, age 89, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on December 8, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center South. She was born on January 31, 1935, in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, to the late LeRoy Charles and Elizabeth Emma Robbins. Lois was a devoted homemaker and a beloved member of her community. She moved to St. Augustine in 2015 from Harding, Pennsylvania, and quickly became an active participant at the Trout Creek Senior Center, where she was affectionately known as "the queen." Lois had a passion for baking, crafting, crocheting, and quilting, and was a gifted gardener with a green thumb that made her home bloom with life. She was a loving wife to her husband of 68 years and high school sweetheart, Thomas Peter James, of St. Augustine. Lois is also survived by her children: Thomas P. James, Jr. (Addie) of Monument, CO; David Allen James (Debbie) of Raleigh, NC; Betsy Ann Desrosiers (Bob) of Perkasie, PA; Bonnie Ann Weinstein (Steven) of St. Augustine; and Beau James (Jennifer) of Martinsburg, WV. She is further survived by her siblings: Betty Lou Murdoch of Wyoming, PA; Dorothy Monk of Hughestown, PA; and Richard Robbins of Wapwallopen, PA. Lois was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren: Sara Knowlden (Zack), Andrew Burrell (Vanessa), Emily Burrell, Nathan Burrell, Amber Schless (Andrew), Auburn James, Luke Desrosiers (partner, Tayla Toros), Alexis Jelski (Pawel), Austin Desrosiers, Brittany Weinstein Molz (Shane), Ashley Ann Weinstein (partner, Bryan Ziolkowksi), Beau James Jr. (Emily), and Tyler James. She was also blessed with 6 great-grandchildren: Isaac, Henry, and Caleb Knowlden; McKenzie LaValley; and Piper and Ryder Schless. Lois was preceded in death by two children, Leslie Ann Burrell and Ronnie James, and by six siblings. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. A visitation, beginning at 9:00 a.m., will precede the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Lois’s memory be made to the Trout Creek Senior Center, 6795 Collier Rd, Orangedale, FL 32092. Arrangements are under the care of St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
