Kay Frances (Wenzel) Carney

In loving memory of Kay Frances (Wenzel) Carney “When it’s your time, it’s your time.” On the 20th of December 2023, her time came to an end. But, on the 31st of January 1944 in New Jersey - it began. Kay was the fourth-born child of 2nd generation German/3rd generation Irish immigrants, Joseph and Catherine (Croft) Wenzel. New Jersey was the first place she called home. In 1963, she married her late husband, Lewis Michael Carney. Over the following years, due to Lewis' military service, the Carneys moved over 40 times across the country, and in the midst of all of these moves, the Carney family grew from two to five. In 1983, Lewis and Kay divorced, and it was after this that Kay decided to make a permanent home in St. Augustine, Florida. As a loving mother, Kay embraced the joys and challenges of parenthood with grace and determination. Her nurturing spirit created a warm and inviting home where memories were made and bonds were strengthened, especially in her garden. Her influence extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of friends and community members alike. She had a fierce, resilient nature which helped her win her battle to become a breast cancer survivor. Kay had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed telling jokes. She loved to play Bingo and hardly ever missed a chance to play. Later in life, Kay found immense happiness in becoming a grandmother and great grandmother. Her legacy will live on in the stories shared, the traditions passed down, and most of all, the love that continues to resonate throughout generations. As we mourn the loss of Kay, let us also celebrate the richness of her life, the love she gave so freely, and the lasting impact she had on all who were blessed to call her family and friend. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all. Kay Frances Carney is survived by her children Lewis Michael Carney, Jr., Kimberley Loveday, and Kerry Ann. Her memory will be cherished by her nine grandchildren, Lauren (Carney) LeDoux, Kayla (Loveday) Peloquin, Timothy Loveday, Kathryn (Loveday) Peel, Trevor Loveday, Kelsey (Spann) Devine, Kimber Spann, Kassidy Caride, and Kalin Caride, and her seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Evelyn, Aria, Kiera, Jameson, Kally, and Lily. She is also survived by her brother Donald Wenzel, NJ. She was preceded in death by her sister Joan (Wenzel) Piperno and her brother Joseph Wenzel (aka Snookie).
