JoAnne Douglas

On Sunday, March 12th, 2023, JoAnne Douglas, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior, joining her best friend and beloved husband of 43 years, Wayne. JoAnne was born to Lynwood and Lela Faye Hill on November 10th, 1948 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, moving to St. Augustine at the age of six. She graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1966, one of over 25 family members to do so, including her children and grandchildren. JoAnne worked at Dobbs Brothers Enterprises for many years and then over 30 years as the Computer Operator at St. Augustine High School. JoAnne volunteered in many roles at SAHS where she touched the lives of countless young people. JoAnne was an active member of Crescent Beach Baptist Church, serving as nursery director for many years. After retiring, she was instrumental in the churches homeless outreach program. No matter who you were, young or old, if Jo knew you had a need she did all she could to see that the need was filled. Her generosity was second to none! Of all the things she did, nothing made her prouder than being Gigi. She adored her six grand babies and her presence in their lives will be greatly missed. JoAnne is survived by her children Melissa Peterson (Randy) and Robert Gober III (Shandon); her beloved grandchildren, Berkeley Gregory (Steven), Michaela, Daniel and Joshua Peterson, Robert IV and Emily Gober and Brayden Smith, great-granddaughter Olivia Gregory; sisters Linda Barton (Bob) and Deaon Triebel (Jamie) and brother Darrel Hill (Nancy) and a cherished extended family. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 17th at 10am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am at Crescent Beach Baptist Church, 885 S.R. 206, St. Augustine, FL 32086. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Home Again St. Johns, in honor of JoAnne and her big heart for the less fortunate. The family would like to thank everyone who has supported them during this time. “There is nothing greater than the love and support of family and friends.” James 1:2-4.
