Glenn Patrick Vahey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Vahey, who left this world on September 12, 2026. Born on July 2, 1962, Glenn lived a fulfilling life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Karen Vahey, his doting daughters, Caitlin Fay, Taylor Vahey and Cassidy Vahey, his son-in-law, Paul Fay Jr and his father-in-law, Walter Standl. Glenn's legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Paul “Theo” Fay III, Otto Fay, and Darell Khalil Roberts Jr. The memory of Glenn is also carried by beloved siblings, James Vahey and his wife, Ruth Hyres; Kevin Vahey and his wife, JoAnn; Laura Vahey and her husband Zbigniew Czarnek; and John Vahey and his wife, Andrea, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, John Vahey, Regina Vahey, Johanna Wixler, Brad Wixler, Kevin Wixler, and Mark Wixler and several great-nieces and nephews. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Regina and John Vahey Sr., his brother Timothy, his sisters Marysa and Ginger, and his mother and brother in-law, Patricia and Michael Standl. Glenn was a proud alumnus of Central Regional High School, Bayville, NJ, graduating in the class of 1981. Later in life, he moved to St. Augustine, FL in 2022, one of his favorite vacation spots. Glenn’s dedication to his community was deeply rooted in his lifelong commitment to the fire service and several years as an Island Beach State Park Lifeguard. He began his service as a volunteer firefighter in January 1982, answering the call to protect and serve his neighbors. Glenn rose to become Fire Chief of the Ocean Gate Fire Department in 1994. He also shared his knowledge and passion for the fire service as an instructor at the Ocean County Fire Academy, helping to educate and prepare the next generation of firefighters. Glenn was honored as Fireman of the Year in 1993 and 1994, a reflection of the respect and admiration he earned throughout his years of service. His legacy of courage, leadership, and service to others will live on in the many lives he touched. Long before his years of service as a firefighter, Glenn spent many summers working on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk at the Coin Castle. It was there that he met Karen—the woman who would become his wife and the love of his life. What began as a summer job became the beginning of a lifetime together. Glenn was a passionate follower of the New York Giants and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, football and cooking for St. Johns County on his Food Truck that he operated with his youngest daughter, Cassidy, and her boyfriend Drey. He also found great solace in the music of Bruce Springsteen, his favorite artist. The life of Glenn Vahey was a testament to his love for family, his passion for life, and his indomitable spirit.
