Frances Ann Sara

Frances Ann Giangeruso Sara, age 94, of Hastings, Florida passed away on April 3, 2022 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine, Florida. Affectionately referred to as “Pansey,” she was born and raised in the Avondale section of Nutley, New Jersey. Fran left school to work as a switchboard operator at Federal/ITT during WWII. It was through this job that she was introduced to her friend’s brother George, who would become her husband. Fran and George were married on July 1, 1950 and continued to reside in New Jersey until moving to Miami in 1958. They owned and operated a neighborhood food store, Quality Food Market, in Miami for 18 years. She and her husband were loved by all that knew them in the neighborhood. Fran was a hard worker who not only worked full time at the store but kept the household. She was a good mom and wife always making sure her family had dinner together every night. When George passed away in 1995, Fran moved with her daughter and her family to Pembroke Pines, Fl. In 2010 the family moved to Hastings. Her two grandsons were her pride and joy. She loved watching them grow and being their Nonnie. Fran loved music and singing along with her favorites, Frank Sinatra, Louie Prima, and Lou Monte. Having dinner with all her family around her was something she cherished. Fran was an avid reader of historical novels. She also enjoyed line dancing with her sister. In her later years, she enjoyed watching game shows, her “story”, comedies, and the news on TV. Her laugh and sense of humor is something all who knew her will remember. Family was always the most important thing in Fran’s life. She is lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandparent, and sister. Always ready to help out and lend a hand, She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her children, Maryann Baetz (Kevin) and Robert Sara (Mickie); grandchildren, Kevin Michael and Corey; sister, Christina “Tina” Firtek and brother, Charles “Buddy” Giangeruso. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and by her parents, Dominick and Elizabeth (Turano) Giangeruso. Services are at St Ambrose Church in Elkton, Fl St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
