Patricia “Pat” Pendley February 1, 1936 – August 28, 2026 Patricia “Pat” Pendley, 90, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, in St. Augustine, Florida, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 1, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Patricia lived a remarkable life filled with love, family, faith, adventure, and beautiful memories. She was a faithful Catholic whose faith remained an important part of who she was throughout her life. Pat was the beloved wife of Howard Foster “Papa” Pendley. Together, Pat and Foster shared a beautiful life and a marriage that was truly a perfect match. They shared more than 60 years of marriage, creating a loving family and a lifetime of memories together. Their life together took them to many places. Among the places they called home was California, where they adopted all three of their children, Mark, Lynn, and Julie. They also spent two years living in South Africa while their children were young, creating experiences and memories that would remain part of their family story forever. Eventually, they returned to the United States and settled in Georgia, where they were surrounded by their daughters and their growing families. Patricia was an extraordinary wife and mother. She devoted herself to her family and created a home filled with love, beauty, tradition, and care. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special. She was proper and elegant in everything she did, and she took her time with the things she cared about. She could set the most beautiful table, paying attention to every little detail because creating something beautiful was one of the ways she showed her love. Although she was Patricia to some and Pat to others, to the people who loved her most, she was simply Grandma. And Grandma was loved by everyone she met. She had the kindest soul and a gentle spirit. She loved animals, especially dogs, and had a special tenderness toward all living things. She loved hosting the most incredible sleepovers with her grandchildren, playing cards, doing yoga, taking long walks, traveling, shopping, watching movies, and spending time with the people she loved. She also loved beautiful places and treasured the memories made along the way. One of her favorite places was the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, a place that held a special place in her heart. The last year of Grandma’s life brought her an especially precious gift: the opportunity to live surrounded by her family in St. Augustine, Florida. She spent that time living with her granddaughter Briley, Andrew, and their family, being part of the everyday moments she loved so dearly. She thrived in the warmth and energy of being surrounded by children and family. Those days were filled with walks, movies, card games, traveling, shopping, milkshakes, delicious meals, and countless simple moments together. One of her favorite outings was going to the Hallmark store, where she loved looking at and choosing cards. It was such a perfect reflection of Grandma… thoughtful, sentimental, and always thinking about the people she loved. Patricia leaves behind a beautiful legacy through the family she and Foster created and the love they gave to one another and their children. She is survived by her children, Mark, Lynn, and Julie; her grandchildren, Kennedy, Presley, Briley, Raven, Avery, Christian, Hagan, and Colin; and her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Camden, and Ember. Her family will remember her for her elegance, her kindness, her unwavering love, her beautiful traditions, her love of animals, her faith, and the gentle way she made the people around her feel loved. But most of all, she will be remembered simply as Grandma… a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a woman whose love will continue through every generation that comes after her. Howard Foster “Foster” Pendley October 5, 1931 – September 16, 2019 Howard Foster “Foster” Pendley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on October 5, 1931, in Old Hickory, Tennessee. He passed away peacefully on September 16, 2019, in Cumming, Georgia, surrounded by his loved ones. Foster grew up on a farm in a large family, where he learned the values of hard work, family, and devotion. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was an exceptionally intelligent man with a gift for mathematics. Those who knew Foster best will remember him as the funniest guy in the room. He could hardly go anywhere without finding a way to make someone laugh. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. He loved computer games, hot coffee, and his donut stick every morning. In his early twenties, Foster met his beautiful bride, Patricia Pendley. Together, they shared more than 60 years of marriage and built a life filled with family, love, laughter, and countless memories. Foster was blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all of whom he was fortunate enough to meet and love. His family was one of his greatest legacies. Though he has been gone since 2019, Foster’s laughter, wisdom, and love have remained in the hearts of those who knew him. As his family gathers to remember him, he will finally be reunited with his beloved wife, Patricia. Together again, side by side, where they belong. Military honors will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
