Enrique Rodriguez

Enrique “Henry” Rodriguez, a devoted man of faith, loving father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026. Born on October 1, 1954, in Santa Clara, Cuba, Enrique’s early life took him across Cuba, Spain, New York, North Carolina, and Florida—experiences that shaped his appreciation for people from all walks of life. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the United States Army as part of the 82nd Airborne Division from 1973 to 1976. Following his military service, Enrique built a long and varied career, spending many years with American Express before becoming an entrepreneur and later working in hospitality and maintenance. He continued to work hard until retiring in 2019, a time that allowed him to focus on what mattered most—his faith, family, and helping others. In 2023, Enrique returned to Jacksonville to be close to his children and grandchildren and became an active part of the Brookdale community. He enjoyed veterans and Bible study groups, painting, fishing, watching the Jaguars, making flan, and spending time with family, including frequent visits from cousins, nieces, and nephews. Those who knew Enrique described him as a sweet and kind man whose faith in God guided his life. He loved encouraging others with a positive word or scripture, and his presence brought comfort, laughter, and wisdom. His example reflected the deep love he had for the Lord and for those around him. Enrique leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, strength, kindness, and generosity. The world is better for the quiet goodness he shared. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sergio and Irene, and his brother, Sergio and his constant companion of 12 years, his Siamese cat Biscuit. He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Paul); son, Chris (Michele); sister, Magnolia (Franklin); brother, Eduardo (Teresita); granddaughters, Winter (Kyle), Carissa (Andrew) and Lauren; great-grandsons, Eli, Lenny, and Grayson; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory forward. A private service will be held with immediate family. In honor of Enrique’s life, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, Community Hospice Center for Caring, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
